Mr. Over/Under:  Browns -2 over Colts Although some might want to call last week in the NFL the “Upset week”, with San Fran and Philly losing, it actually was the ”Week of the Unders”. 12 of the 14 games went under the total last week. The Bears went under for the first time and the Saints have yet to go over, as I write this on Thursday. Eight out of this week’s 13-games have a point spread of 3 or less. After 3 home games and a bye week, the Browns take their talented defense on the road to Indy. This could be the “Battle of the Backups”? Minshew vs. Walker! However when it comes down to the defense, Cleveland wins hands down. No weather worries here. I like the Browns -2

Man in Stripes: Steelers +3.5 over Rams

Some weeks it’s a struggle to find games. This week I love a few games. Mike Tomlin coming off a bye and getting points. It’s money in the bank. I’ll go to the window one more time in this situation. Kenny Pickett has been up and down but he is getting some weapons back. The defense is the usual Steeler defense and we expect them to harass Matthew Stafford. The Rams are down to their third string running back. I expect ¾ of the crowd to be waving terrible towels. This will be like a road game for the Rams.

2 others:

Arizona State +28 over Washington- letdown spot for UW after big win.

AF/Navy Under 34.5, 81% under since 2005 in the match-ups between service academies.

Gavin: Oklahoma -17.5 over UCF

Although Oklahoma is coming off a big win over Texas and a bye,  this pick is more about Big 12 newcomer UCF. The Knights are off a bye themselves having lost three straight to Big 12 competition. Their last loss was an ugly one against Kansas. John Rhys Plumlee is starting under center after battling knee problems the last few weeks. Plumlee hasn’t been great throwing three TD’s and four interceptions. Oklahoma is going to be the best team UCF has faced and they are in for a long day. The Sooners lead the country with 16 turnovers in 6 games. Should Plumlee be able to stay on the field that number will go up. This sets up perfectly for Coach Venables and the Sooners defense to bounce back after giving up 500+ yards to Texas. I see the Sooners forcing a few turnovers and this one getting ugly quick. Dillion Gabriel and the offense are rolling and UCF doesn’t have the talent to slow them down. Enjoy a Sooners blowout.

Brutal: Missouri -7 over South Carolina

It’s time to come to the conclusion that Missouri is actually good this year.  This is the best team since Gary Pinkel was on the sidelines. On the other hand South Carolina isn’t very good.  Shane Beamer blames everyone except himself. He broke his foot in a meltdown after last week’s loss. Spencer Rattler is just an average quarterback. Brady Cook for Missouri looks like the better QB in this one. The line started at 5 and has moved up. I don’t see any motivation for South Carolina in this one. This should be a great atmosphere in Faurot Field. In the battle of Columbia’s I’ll take the Tigers to get it done at home.

Philly: Tampa Bay -2.5 over Atlanta

The Bucs welcome the Falcons in a meaningful midseason match-up in what is shaping up to be a tight divisional race in the NFC South.  While the Falcons are young team with talent it’s hard to back this team. Ridder is just a game manager and Bijan is living up to the hype. Compare that to the Bucs in White, Godwin and Evans. Tampa Bay has better weapons. Baker may not be living up to his first overall pick but he’s still better than Ridder. The Falcons will struggle to score against a good Bucs defense. We trust Baker to get the job done at home while lying under a field goal.

Bob: Alabama -8.5 over Tennessee

I like this game for two reasons. One this is a revenge game for Alabama. Last year was a great high scoring contest where Tennessee won on a last second field goal. The fans stormed the field at Neyland Stadium. Alabama can’t forget that. The second reason is Tennessee is like that pitcher in baseball that is great at home but not so great on the road.  The Vols have only played one true road game this year. It didn’t go well in the Swamp against Florida.  They got blown out before halftime.  Vegas wants you to bet Tennessee.  This line started at 10. Vegas was on their hands and knees begging you to bet Tennessee. The public brought the line down a little. We will back the home team with revenge on their mind.
