Mr. Over/Under: Bills -5.5 over Jacksonville
In the late 80’s & early 90’s, ESPN’s Chris Berman always predicted a Super Bowl between Buffalo & San Francisco. Could it happen in 2024? After an embarrassing lost to the Jets, the Bills have averaged 41-points a game. At 4-0, the 49ers have averaged 31-points a game. The Bills are in London this week to face a team Josh Allen has played against twice yet lost both times. The 49ers are home against Dallas. For the first time ever, a team, Jacksonville, will play 2 weeks in-a-row in London. Could that be an advantage when they face the Bills this week, or a distraction? One things for sure, the Bills are far superior to the Falcons team the Jags beat last week. Look out Jacksonville! You have yet to face a defense like the Bills. I like the Bills -5.5
Man in Stripes: KC-Minnesota Over 52
Let’s stay with the NFL over train this week. Neither QB has played great so far this year. Mahomes and Cousins have turned it over way too much. This all changes Sunday. Both teams rank in the top five in terms of yards per play. Both secondaries are shaky. The Vikings rank 31stin opponent completions. I can’t see how both teams don’t get to 30 points. Vikes score in the dome where the over is 11-5 in the last 16 games. There are too many playmakers on the field. Romo and Nantz get a wild one to call!!!
Mano: Missouri +6 over LSU
Love the home dog here to cover the number. LSU is coming off a shootout loss to Ole Miss. It’s their second loss in September and their playoff hopes maybe shot. An early noon kick (11am local time) doesn’t make it easier. Missouri is 5-0 looking for a statement win. Led by QB Brady Cook Mizzou is capable of hanging with Jalen Daniels. WR Luther Burden has amassed 110+ yards in each of his last four games. Paired with an effective running attack the Tigers should be able to put up points against a shaky LSU defense. Mizzou defensively is strong against the run and they should be able to make LSU one-dimensional. In a battle of Tigers we will side with the home team. Missouri should be able to keep pace and may get a few stops late to have a chance to win this game outright.
Brutal: Louisville +7 over Notre Dame
This is a tough spot for the Irish. This is their third straight prime time game having played Ohio State and Duke previously. This is their second straight game on the road. The Louisville crowd is going to be pumped to have the Irish in the house. Louisville is 5-0 for the first time in 10 years. Notre Dame plays close games and I think this will be another tight contest. Jeff Brohm has brought over one of his old Purdue QB’s in Jack Plummer. Plummer has the Louisville offense averaging 508 yards per game, which is 11thin the nation. I didn’t think Notre Dame was that great last week in Duke and the Cardinals will keep it close and maybe pull the upset this week.
Philly: Texas -5.5 over Oklahoma
Texas is OFFICALLY back. Oklahoma has looked solid taking care of business so far this year. Dillon Gabriel has been very efficient throwing 75%, 15 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. One problem is they have played a soft schedule. They haven’t been tested like Texas. Texas not only beat Alabama but they went into Tuscaloosa and controlled the game. The running back duo of Baxter and Brooks has been phenomenal behind the top offensive line in the country. Quinn Ewers has firm control of the offense with top targets Worthy and Mitchell holding true to their preseason projections. The best part is Texas finally has a defense. They force pressure, stop the run and create turnovers. The Sooners are good, but the Longhorns are great!
Bob: Teaser: Miami -5 and NE/ NO under 46
Let’s try a teaser this week to get back on track. First Miami impressed me last week in defeat against Buffalo. The team speed is incredible. The Giants defensive coordinator is Wink Martindale. Wink loves to play man and pressure the QB. That is a bad recipe against Miami. De’Von Achane and Tyreek Hill will have big days this week against that type of defense. Daniel Jones play recently has the Giants questioning the 160 million dollar contract. The Giants catch the Dolphins in a bad mood.
We tease this with two very good defenses getting together in New England. Bill Belichick and Dennis Allen square off in a battle of wits of two defensive gurus. The reason I like the under is because not only are the defenses good but the offenses are struggling. Derek Carr isn’t 100 percent physically for the Saints. The Patriots are starting to realize that Mac Jones isn’t a franchise QB. Both teams have only scored 20 points once all year. Let’s tease down Miami and tease up the total for a win this week.
